2025 MVHR Summer Day Camp for Routt County

MVHR is excited to be offering Routt County kids 6 and up the opportunity to spend Summer days with horses, with our popular Horse Heroes program FREE of Charge for Routt County Residents ONLY, with transportation from Yampa. This camp and the transportation is made possible thanks to a grant from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.

Families can sign up for up to 2 day FREE of Charge to ensure multiple families have the change to participate. You can waitlist for additional days, and those might become available closer to camp dates. Kids do not need prior horse experience to participate. MVHR will provide transportation from Yampa, pick up at South Routt Elementary School. Email us if you like to waitlist, details below.

Horse Heroes Day Camp - FREE on May 27, 28 & 29 and June 3, 4 & 5, including transportation from Yampa! 

Kids learn all about horses and what it means to care for them through service & grooming. We learn to lead & halter a horse, work on confidence, teamwork & perseverance. The day includes horse crafts and games.

This camp is the perfect introduction to horses and a fun day spent outside at the ranch. Horse Heroes Day Camp is for ages 6 and up. Our camps are focused on ground work and being around the horses, this is not a horseback riding camp, and campers will not be riding horses.

Basic Information for All Day Camps:

All Summer day camps run from 9am to 2:30pm. To get to the ranch in time we pick up in Yampa at 8:15am and we drop the kids back off at 3:15pm. We meet at South Routt Elementary School, 448 Main St. Yampa, CO 80483. Look for the white van with MVHR logo. Marissa Martindale, our program coordinator will be your driver! Please be there no later then 8:15am! For campers providing their own transportation, please plan to arrive at the Ranch by 8:50am, and pick up campers at the ranch no later then 2:40pm.

Kids should bring lunch, two snacks, a water bottle, an extra set of clothes, sunscreen, and a hat. We require campers to wear closed toed boots or shoes and long pants.

Spots are limited. Should a camp be full, please contact us to be added to the waitlist. Please only register for 2 camp days per family, so that everyone has a chance to participate free of charge. These camps are for Routt County full time residents only, thanks to a generous grant from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. The Camps especially for Routt County do not require a scholarship application. 

Should you need to cancel please do so at least 7 days prior to the day of camp so that we can give the spot to someone else. If for any reason you need or want to switch your camp dates new spot requests are subject to availability. Should camps be cancelled for any reason by MVHR, full refunds will be provided.

Should none of these FREE dates work for your family, we do have a number of FULL Scholarships available for Routt County Residents for all of MVHR's other day camps this Summer which run from June 10th through August 7th. Please apply for a scholarship by clicking below if you wish your child participate in those camps. Please know transportation from Yampa will NOT be offered during the other Summer dates and parents are responsible for bringing campers to the ranch in McCoy.
