| | And just like that... ...we are almost in September! We are receiving some much needed Summer rain helping the dry pastures show some green and the mornings & evenings are starting to be cooler making the work at the ranch a little easier. The Rescue is bursting at the seams, with both the Quarantine Barn and Robin's Nest stalls full with new intakes from all walks of life. This last month we have seen an increase in calls, many horses in immediate need of a safe place to land. MVHR quickly worked to get them to the ranch to ensure they would not fall through the cracks. This does bring the rescue herd to 39 horses this month. Amazing adoption interest continues with five horses starting their adoption trials in the last month! So far 24 horses have found their next chapter this year. We have a whole herd of wonderful horses that are ready for their next adventure, from trail horses to project horses to companion horses, if you are looking, the herd is ready to meet you! We are also busy preparing for our Annual Hay Day Open House on Saturday, September 19th from 1-4pm. Read all the details below! We are still looking for volunteers to help make the day a huge success. Whether you are new to MVHR or a seasoned volunteer, all are welcome! Read below how to sign up. A special event benefiting MVHR and two other local Nonprofits takes place on October 1: The SteamMasters Charitable Golf Outing at the Sonnenalp Club in Edwards! Are you a golfer and would like to support the horses and other wonderful causes by playing your favorite game, check out below how you can register your team! Continue reading for more details and updates from MVHR! | | MVHR Horse Updates! This past month adoptions finalized for Bonita and Prince as well as Parker, Scout and Stache, who went to a new home together! Lucky is doing well in her adoption trial where she now lives with MVHR alumni Moon. Blue & Crackin started their adoption trial with an amazing couple on the western slope and Juniper headed out on her 30 day trial period with a wonderful woman in the front range. Smokey's pending adoption did not finalize, and he safely made his way back to MVHR. He will do three weeks in the Quarantine Barn before merging back with the herd. You'll also find Clifton there, an MVHR graduate who was adopted from MVHR a few years ago and will now be a boarder at the ranch. As we shared, it has been busy with intakes resulting in us utilizing Robin's Nest as overflow quarantine housing. Recent new arrives are; Seneca & Gus, who needed a safe place to land when their loving owner was confronted with life changing circumstances. Betty & Dandy, two lovely dun mares in their teens who fell on hard times, both arriving emaciated and the latter dealing with an old hind leg injury that was never cared for. Woodrow, a sweet 22 year old grey gelding who was loved very much by his owner but due to unexpected cancer treatment needed to quickly find a place to land. And we also welcomed back Little Bay. This cute "little bay" got adopted in 2024 by a lovely family who were suddenly faced with a move where they couldn't bring Little Bay along. He is such a good boy and would love to find his next little kid to ride around with! That brings the count to 5 new intakes, 2 returns and 1 new boarder at the ranch! We are so grateful to our amazing staff for handling this increase with grace! Interested in your next horse, or know someone who is? Wonderful horses are waiting for their next adventures! Come meet Maverick, Dancer, Barbie, Buggs, Belle, Smokey, Darcy, Daci, Dolly, Sierra, Cody, RayRay, Larry, Blaze, Golie, Cheech, Latigo, Rebel, Freddie, Big, Woodrow, Gus & Seneca! Adoptions make it possible for us to help more horses with next chapters of their own, and for you to have an amazing horse in your life!
