WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!! Mountain Valley Horse Rescue would not exist without our amazing and dedicated volunteers. This month are would like to share a little bit about Sallie Lodewyck and her wonderful family. The Lodewyck family, Sallie, Garrett, Molly and June moved to Edwards 5 years ago from Boulder. Sallie grew up taking riding lessons and her family raises and races Standard Bred horses in Indiana. Growing up, she loved both riding and going to the races at county fairs. Her interest in MVHR started last summer when Molly and June attended Little Horse Heroes. After completing the training program, she and her family have been coming to help out at the ranch ever since. " Our friend and MVHR Board member Jen Werderitch, introduced us to the rescue when I was looking for a place for Molly to do some riding. We were so impressed with the organization, facility and the people that we wanted to get involved. We volunteer because it's a great way to spend time as a family, we get to be outside and it's easy to help with such a well organized schedule. We really enjoy using the vehicles and petting the horses. Our favorite task is scooping poop and driving the poop spreader into the pasture! The best part about volunteering is leaving the rescue knowing we helped make a small difference. It's also very rewarding to see our kids gain confidence and learn about working together as a team to help the rescue" |
