| | Thank you to all who donated for Colorado Gives Day! MVHR was blown away by your support this Colorado Gives Day. We raised just under $53,000 for the horses from 207 individual donors. We are humbled you chose the horses with your gift! THANK YOU! Our goal for Colorado Gives Day, as part of our year end fundraising, was $60,000 - so we are not quite there yet. Reaching these goals is important, so that MVHR has enough funds to care for the 27 horses in the current rescue herd. |

| HORSE UPDATES Adopted! Grey, Moon, Sampson & Wendy At the end of November, both Grey and Moon found their next adventure, each of them with one of our wonderful volunteers. They will remain at the ranch for the time being as boarders. Sampson & Wendy found their new home together and moved to the front range at the end of November. They have settled in well! Please wish all four of these amazing horses a wonderful journey ahead with their new owners! Welcome Cole & Rex These two handsome boys arrived from separate situations, and have begun their recovery together. Cole has been a USFS pack and trail horse for years, working hard to serve in the back country of Colorado. This summer he started to slow down, and ended up suffering a bout of severe pneumonia. Recovered from the critical phase of that challenge, MVHR is now helping Cole figure out what he'd like to do next! He's "been there and done that" and we're hoping he'll make a great light riding horse for some new adventures with a person of his own! Rex is a beautiful, well bred Arabian...and he knows it! He came to MVHR when his previous owner did not have time or resources to further his training, so MVHR will first figure out what he knows, and teach him what he doesn't. Looking for a gorgeous, energetic prospect? This might be your guy! Stay tuned for more information on both of these guys as MVHR gets to know them better and they progress through their Journey of Hope! |

| | Our waitlist continues to grow, and we have seen an increase in calls from people needing placement for their horses ASAP due to financial hardship. Recent increases in the cost-of-living in the entire country will result in more horses needing to find a safe haven. We work hard to take in owner surrenders before those horses end up neglected or sold at an auction where their fate is unknown. Due to your support and donations, we are able to continue doing this important work to be that safe landing for horses in need. Thank you! |
| | Shop at Kitchen Collage & Support the Horses! Kitchen Collage is proud to support Mountain Valley Horse Rescue. This Holiday Season, a percentage of their sales will be donated to the horses! Both stores have something for everyone and it is a wonderful way for you to support the horses! Thank you Kitchen Collage! |

| | VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES! No horse experience is needed, as MVHR provides introductory and ongoing training to help to develop horsemanship skills that will allow you to volunteer with the horses in varying capacities, based on your interest, such as: Corral Catering (water and hay runs) - Water and hay need to be topped off throughout the day, and the horses will love you for it! Manure Meditations - What more valuable way to spend time than putting a corner of the world all to rights, and all for the horses?! There's always plenty of manure to go around and, whether scooping one corral or five, every single pile picked up helps the horses stay happy and healthy...and you too;)! Tuesday Tech - Both the vet and the farrier are at the ranch on Tuesdays, and that makes for a busy day when we could use extra hands to help handling horses! You can learn to be a "Tech" and assist with catching and holding horses while they have their vet and farrier treatments, and even help with any ongoing treatments they may need on other days of the week. Grooming Gurus - For those who can’t wait to get in there and curry and comb, getting all the dirt and tangles out! Grooming helps improve the health of each and every horse, and this is a great way to get to know the herd! Visit the Volunteer Page on our website to sign up and learn more! |
