| Newsletter December 2024 Wow what a month it has been so far! First of all THANK YOU to All who donated for Colorado Gives Day and those who have donated so far this month. We are humbled to see your support for the horses. With recent emergency cases, the current Rescue Herd has swelled to 37 horses, beyond our normal capacity of 27, your generous donations can't come at a better time! MVHR raised just over $62,000 for the herd on Colorado Gives Day. Although we didn't reach our goal for this day, which was $100,000, there is still time to give this Holiday season and help us towards our total year end goal. You can Help a Horse for the Holidays and ensure that we can help the 37 horses in our care move towards adoption as well as allow us to grow in the New Year to help even more horses. You can also Help Horses this Holiday Season by volunteering, bringing your holiday visitors out to help too, touring the ranch, spending time with the horses and spreading the word about horses in need & how MVHR makes a difference. Or Give the Gift of Giving - through a donation in a special person's honor or by purchasing items in the MVHR shop. And an exciting event this Saturday: Santa's Sleigh & Merry Neighs! Where you can put a gift in your favorite horse's stocking ;). Read below for all of the Horse Updates we have to share. We are grateful adoption interest continues, and are excited that a few of our amazing herd members started their adoption trials with wonderful new homes recently. Thanks to adopters and supporters we can Help Horses Home for the Holidays. In this Newsletter you will also find a number of other ways that you can help the horses during year end or any other time of year. Whether you make a year end donation, support the horses through holiday shopping, donate stock or plan a future gift, all have an amazing impact on the lives of horses in need. | MVHR Horse Updates Harley, Bo, Moon, Patron and Archie all met their new families recently, and are headed home for the Holidays! Happy Endings, and all the care they require along the way, are only possible thanks to your support! Speaking of care.... Babe had surgery at RFEMC in November, and is recovering beautifully. Traditional management strategies for her navicular syndrome were not effective at improving her comfort, so a neurectomy was performed to allow her to move without pain for the first time in many years. We can't wait to see all this beautiful girl has in mind for her future, now that she is free of debilitating pain! Suede, Elvis and Midnight integrated into the herd, while Dancer joined Babe in the Robin's Nest stalls as we further evaluate her needs. And just before Gives Day, five new intakes!! arrived into quarantine; Daisy & Rocket, who we took in because law enforcement found them wandering loose in Oak Creek. Dakota, a been there done that ranch horse in need of extra feed. And two youngsters, Dojo & Archie, purchased at a kill lot by a good Samaritan but in need of a longer term safe landing. And as you read above, after just 1 week, Archie already has an adoption pending! This brings our herd count to 37 horses in MVHR's care, well above our stated capacity of 27 horses. We are grateful to all of you who make this swell in herd numbers possible so that we can help more horses on to next chapters of their own! Help us continue to help more horses these last few days of 2024! Adopt, sponsor, foster! Reach out to see what might fit for you! |
