It's National Day of the Horse! Thank you for your support of Colorado Gives Day!

Congress designated December 13th as the National Day of the Horse in 2004 to celebrate the cultural, historic, and economic contributions that horses have made and continue to make.

We are humbled to see your support for Colorado Gives Day. MVHR raised just over $60,000 for the herd thanks to your generosity. Although we didn't reach our goal for this day, which was $75,000, there is still time to give this holiday season and help us towards our year end goal. You can Help a Horse for the Holidays and ensure that we can help the 29 horses in our care, move towards adoption and can grown to help even more horses.

In addition, you can Help Horses this Holiday Season by volunteering, bringing your holiday visitors out to help too, touring the ranch, spending time with the horses and spreading the word about horses in need and how MVHR makes a difference. Or Give the Gift of Giving - through a donation in a special person's honor or by purchasing MVHR merchandize.

We are excited to share that a lot of our amazing herd members started their adoption trials with wonderful new homes in November and December. Thanks to adopters and supporters we can Help Horses Home for the Holidays.

Horse Updates

Horses are going Home for the Holidays! With some adoptions finalizing in November, and horses leaving for their new homes & adoption trial periods, it has been a busy month at the ranch!

Zephyr has been at a wonderful foster home since this summer, where her foster family helped her heal from the awful wound she sustained in an accident. They love her so much that they have adopted her!

Winston found a very special girl and they instantly had a bond. She will give him so much love and take him on adventures from ranch work to leisure rides, and eventually maybe some trick riding!

Chip recently returned from Versatile Equine, where he received two months of extensive training from Daniel. You can watch his amazing video! It didn't take long for him to meet with an adopter and he left for his new home this past weekend.

Monty & Silk have met with wonderful adopters, who are making preparations to take their horse home! Please wish all of these horses good luck in their trail periods, and may they have found their forever home.

With adoptions finalizing, room opens up for new intakes that have been on our waiting list. This past week we welcomed Truly.

Truly is a beautiful and friendly two year old Thoroughbred. We look forward to getting to know her sweet personality and give her the care and skills she needs to find her next chapter in life.

There are many amazing rideable horses available for adoption, come meet your next horse and help us spread the word! Once these wonderful horses leave for their new homes, MVHR can help those that are waiting for a spot before the holidays!

Freckles - Unfortunately her adoption trail last month did not finalize, due to no fault of Freckles. This twenty something Appaloosa mare, been there done that, from hunting camp to ponying kids, this special girl is very forgiving and willing to please her rider.

Bill - goofy, big Thoroughbred, sweet as can be on the ground and under saddle. Ready for arena work or trail!

Firefly - This girl loves to go on trail adventures, and can go for miles. She is in need of her very own person she can bond with, as she came from not having that in the past.

Toffee - looking for her bestie! This sweet sorrel mare is mid-teens and broke to ride.

Peanut - is a sweet mare, mid-teens and is ready to go! With a lot of get-up-and-go this girl will take you for miles on the trail or around the ranch!

VOLUNTEER - The horses can really use your help!

We are so grateful for everyone who joined the Community Volunteer Days, this year! Many amazing volunteers completed their 10 hours in order to participate in the Hopeful Hearts Program, and were matched with their rescue horse this fall. They will work with these horses through the winter to help them gain confidence and be ready for adoption!

For those of you who would like to become a Certified Volunteer, which qualifies you to come up to the Rescue anytime to help, Volunteer orientations are via appointment - email volunteer@mvhr.net to schedule yours!

We are incredibly appreciative of our Volunteers! Thank you, current Volunteers!
