Happy January! As we move into the New Year...

MVHR is looking forward to moving into the new training facility, and into another new chapter of continuing to help even more horses. Starting the year full to capacity, and with a growing waiting list of horses looking for help, MVHR sees nothing but the opportunity to grow our reach and help more equines. Check out our first newsletter of the year to see all that is happening at the ranch, and some of what we have planned for the coming year!

HORSE UPDATES

Meet Gem!

We'd like to reintroduce Gem, as many of you have never met her considering she's been at a foster home, almost since the moment she arrived in MVHR's care in 2021.  Because of foster homes like hers, MVHR can help more horses!

Cole & Rex settled in with herd

Our recent intakes Cole & Rex have settled in with the MVHR herd, and are making friends. With these two horses, MVHR has reached its capacity and is working hard to find adoptable homes!

Our waitlist continues to grow and we have seen an increase in calls from people needing placement for their horses ASAP due to financial hardship. Recent increases in the cost-of-living in the entire country will result in more horses needing to find a safe haven. We work hard to take in owner surrenders before those horses end up neglected or sold at an auction where their fate is unknown. With your support and donations, we are able to continue doing this important work to be a safe landing for horses in need. Thank you!

WELCOME OUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS

After an extensive board recruitment process this past fall, we welcomed Sallie Clark and Lisa Herota to the MVHR Board of Directors. Both MVHR volunteers, we are thrilled to have found two dedicated and talented new members to support our mission by helping to lead MVHR as it continues to grow!

PROGRAMS - SAVE THE DATE!

Mini Horse Heroes returns this year too, and Racey can't wait to see you all back at the ranch. Registration for Spring/Summer dates for MHH opens on March 1, 2023

Tuesday Tech!

Manure Meditations!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES -

We Need Your Help!

No horse experience is needed to volunteer, as MVHR provides introductory and ongoing training to help to develop horsemanship skills that will allow you to volunteer with the horses in varying capacities, based on your interest, such as:

Corral Catering Water and hay need to be topped off throughout the day, and the horses will love you for it!

Manure Meditations What more valuable way to spend time than putting a corner of the world all to rights, and all for the horses?! There's always plenty of manure to go around and, whether scooping one corral or five, every single pile picked up helps the horses stay happy and healthy...and you too ;)!

Tuesday Tech - Both the vet and the farrier are at the ranch on Tuesdays, and that makes for a busy day when we could use extra hands to help handling horses! You can learn to be a "Tech" and assist with catching and holding horses while they have their vet and farrier treatments, and even help with any ongoing treatments they may need on other days of the week.

Grooming Gurus For those who can’t wait to get in there and curry and comb, getting all the dirt and tangles out! Grooming helps improve the health of each and every horse, and this is a great way to get to know the herd!
