Thank you for 2023! Here is to helping more horses in 2024!

Thanks to all of YOU - donors, volunteers and supporters, MVHR was able to start 26 Journeys of Hope for horses in need in 2023 and 20 found their new adventure, with 6 adoptions pending as we started the new year!

Although the winter started mild, the ranch is snowy and the days are cold. We are so grateful for the volunteers we see every week and the coziness of Robin's Nest's volunteer room, to warm up, have a hot beverage and restroom facilities! No cold construction trailer and porta-potties this winter makes a huge difference for volunteers who come brave the cold and help the horses! Thank you Volunteers! Read down on in this newsletter to learn about the next volunteer orientation and our Hopeful Hearts Program!

We are excited to share that many of our amazing herd members started their adoption trials with wonderful new homes in December and that we are getting ready for new Journeys of Hope that will begin in January!

Versatile Equine is back Jan. 20-21 and Feb 3-4! Spectators are welcome if you'd like to see horse training in action, or see below if you would like to sign up to bring your horse for some time with Daniel or Sophia!

Calling all Volunteers! The horses need you!

Volunteer orientations continue through the winter, as the horses need even more of your love during the cold days! The next upcoming Volunteer Orientation and Community Volunteer date is Saturday, January 27 from 10-1, register at volunteer@mvhr.net. Can't make it? Email to schedule an orientation by appointment instead!

Once you've volunteered for 10 hours, you can participate in the Hopeful Hearts Program, and be matched with a rescue horse who you will work with through the winter to help them be ready for adoption!

Three volunteers got matched with their rescue horses, and learn a lot about groundwork in the December Session. Thank you Scott, Louise and Vicky for your commitment to these horses!  Babe, Carmel and Angel love having volunteers of their very own!

Thank you Volunteers!

Horse Updates

The new year starts out with 6 pending adoptions! And we have more wonderful horses available and ready for their new home! Come meet Freckles, Firefly, Toffee, Peanut, Bill, Eliza & Gem, and don't forget about amazing groundwork horses Babe, Carmel, Torec & Latigo!

Chip headed to the Carbondale area with a girl of his very own.

Silk met a wonderful couple from the Colorado Springs area, and is being spoiled and taken for leisurely rides.

Moon met his new match and we don't have to say goodbye to him, as he will stay at the ranch in our boarder program.

Monty found a wonderful family, and as they prepared to bring him home, they decided that Angel will join them too!

Please wish all of these horses good luck in their trail periods, as the Journey towards their forever home.

With adoptions finalizing, room opens up for new intakes that have been on our waiting list. Gabe, a gentle, retired roping horse arrived late in December. We look forward to getting to know him and helping him find what is next for him...maybe teaching some youngsters to ride?

And the phone is still ringing, as it does especially in the winter. At least two intakes are planned for later in January, as adoptions finalize and we hurry to help those next in need.

Mini Clinics with Versatile Equine

Need help with your horse? Versatile Equine is back January 20 & 21 and February 3 & 4.

Daniel and Sophia Harris with Versatile Equine are a dynamic duo with diverse backgrounds that came together with a united vision: to help horses become happy, confident athletes both inside and outside the arena. They believe that letting the horse choose to work with you, rather than making them work for you, goes a long way in building the trust and respect necessary for a solid relationship.

The clinics are 2 hour each, in a private session with your horse and the clinician that suits their goals best. Cost is $150 per 2 hour session. Space is limited! Registration is open for Jan 20 & 21, check back for Feb 3 & 4 on our website or follow on social media!

Daniel and Sophia will spend the balance of the weekend working with the amazing MVHR herd, helping each of them gain skills to move towards adoption.

Volunteers and visitors don't miss this incredible opportunity watch, as there is so much to learn! Spectators are always welcome, and there is no charge (although donations are always welcome). Don't miss this amazing opportunity!
