| Newsletter March 2026 Spring has arrived at the ranch with green grass peaking through in the pastures. Although the temperatures have seemed more like Summer, the horses are doing well, enjoying their sun naps and turnouts, as well as the increased amount of visitors with the mild weather. Spring Programs have started and the rescue herd is enjoying more loving attention thanks to Mini Horse Heroes, Equine Explorers and amazing service groups and volunteers these past few weeks. Mark your calendars for our Help a Horse Day Volunteer Spring Fling & Open House on Saturday, April 26th. Learn more about this special day below. Registration is open for Spring & Summer Camps too, so scroll down as there are still spots available! Adoptions continue with 5!!! horses leaving for their next adventure in the last month, allowing us to welcome 5 new intakes into quarantine earlier this month. Those will join the herd in a week or so, after which we will immediately prepare for the arrival for more new intakes in early April. As always, our waitlist never seems to get shorter and it has been busier with intake requests due to the drounght and concerns about upcoming hay prices. | MVHR Horse Updates It has been wonderful to see so many horses graduate from their Journey of Hope so far this year! Several have found their match and left on their adoption trials in the last month. Flint headed to Snowmass, where he is getting spoiled by his very own girl and his adoption has finalized. Lucy & Shadow started their adoption trial in Evergreen at a special riding program ranch and Craven found her match with a wonderful woman who will take her on the adventures she seeks. And sweet Bonnie found a loving retirement home with a wonderful couple and will be boarded at the same place as Blue who left last month. All these adoptions have allowed us to welcome new intakes, and quarantine filled quickly with 5 wonderful horses. Two dude string horses, Scout & Sierra and two ranch horses, Chuck & Pard, all ready for an easier life in their golden years. And Rico, a 10 year old sorrel gelding with knee problems we hope to help him with. As they prepare to merge with the herd in the next week, new intakes are already scheduled to arrive in early April. MVHR has wonderful horses who are waiting for their next loving home. Could that be with you?! A list of the Current Herd can be found by clicking below! |

National Help a Horse Day on April 26th each year encourages horse lovers and advocates to join forces and protect abused and neglected horses. National Help a Horse Day is celebrated annually on April 26. The day was created by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to raise awareness of the need to protect horses from abuse and neglect. The date was chosen because it's significant to the ASPCA's history of horse protection. In 1866, ASPCA founder Henry Bergh stopped a cart driver from beating his horse on April 26, resulting in the first successful arrest for horse mistreatment. |
