COLORADO GIVES DAY -

Giving Begins TODAY November 1

Colorado Gives Day begins today! Some things have changed this year with a new Colorado Gives Platform & way of giving!

Your support of MVHR on the Colorado Gives website, starting today, counts toward our Dec 6 goal, and the $1.6 million Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund!

All participating Colorado Gives Day nonprofits earn a percentage of the fund, so the more we raise, the more the horses receive! In previous years you had to schedule your donation to ensure we'd receive the maximum incentive fund, however , starting this year your donation made November 1 through December 6 will count towards the Community First Incentive Fund!

Please join us for Colorado Gives Day to make a difference in the lives of equines. Help us meet our goal early! Your support and generosity are appreciated now more than ever. The horses are counting on you!

HORSE UPDATES

Run Free & Fast Now Chester

This sweet boy was only with us for a short time. After intake from a financial hardship situation, we found that he had a very bad arthritic knee. When pain relieving injections did not help his comfort, we gave Chester his wings. Run now beautiful boy!

Welcome Wendy & Sampson

In October we welcomed new intake Wendy. She is a sweet twenty something mare, well broke and gentle. She came from a local owner who could no longer care for her. We look forward to seeing what she is up for!

We also welcomed back Sampson, who after two years with his adoptive home was returned through no fault of his own. This lovely 14 year old gelding is well broke and ready for his next adventure!

Our waitlist continues to grow, and we have seen an increase in calls from people needing placement for their horses ASAP due to financial hardship. Recent increases in cost of living in the entire country will result in more horses needing to find a safe haven. We work hard to take in owner surrenders before those horses end up neglected or sold at an auction where their fate is unknown. Due to your support and donations, we are able to continue doing this important work to be that safe landing for horses in need. Thank you!

Dick Woodrow

MVHR received sad news that one of our amazing benefactors, the previous owner of the ranch MVHR now calls home, passed away in October.

Dick was an amazing, beautiful soul who gave so much to Yellow Dog Ranch to make it a beautiful property, as if preparing it for MVHR.  When MVHR was looking for its forever home, Dick (alongside his amazing wife Marcy) made the purchase of Yellow Dog Ranch possible, and without his generosity, MVHR would (literally) not be where we are today.

Dick and Marcy are pictured here with young Woodrow who was born here on the ranch shortly after MVHR moved to the property and named in their honor. Thank you Dick, for the incredible legacy you helped establish for the horses.  You will be deeply missed.

ROBIN'S NEST!

For those that visited on Hay Day, you got a sneak peek of this amazing facility! We have to be patient just a little longer to move into it, while we await a critical electical component that has been delayed by this crazy construction market. We hope to start moving in soon, stay tuned!

Little Horse Friends Lessons

October sessions for LHF wrapped up on October 29. Once Robin's Nest, MVHR's indoor training facility, is in use we will be releasing new session dates for winter! Want to be on the waitlist for these lessons? Contact marleen@mvhr.net.

Tuesday Tech!

Manure Meditations!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES!

No horse experience is needed, as MVHR provides introductory and ongoing training to help to develop horsemanship skills that will allow you to volunteer with the horses in varying capacities based on your interest, such as:

Corral Catering (water and hay runs) - Water and hay need to be topped off throughout the day, and the horses will love you for it!

Manure Meditations - What more valuable way to spend time than putting a corner of the world all to rights, and all for the horses?! There's always plenty of manure to go around, and whether scooping one corral or five....every single pile picked up helps the horses stay happy and healthy....and you too;)!

Tuesday Tech - Both the vet and the farrier are at the ranch on Tuesdays, and that makes for a busy day when we could use extra hands to help handling horses! You can learn to be a "Tech" and assist with catching and holding horses while they have their vet and farrier treatments, and even help with any ongoing treatments they may need on other days of the week.

Grooming Gurus - For those who can’t wait to get in there and curry and comb, getting all the dirt and tangles out! Grooming helps improve the health of each and every horse, and this is a great way to get to know the herd!

Visit the Volunteer Page on our website to sign up and learn more!
