| | It's Napping Season for the Horses... ...at the ranch during the sunny days, warming up for the colder nights. While these horses wait to graduate from their Journey of Hope, they enjoy their time together with plenty of hay and love. However it is not nap time for MVHR Staff. Not only do we continue programs through the end of the year, but staff has also been working hard to plan for new intakes in need of a safe place to land before the real winter starts. It's the time of year when our phones are the busiest. Over 18 horses have asked for help as soon as possible, just in the last few weeks, and we are hoping we can help them all. We are grateful for the continued increase of participation in our community volunteer days and training, it is so wonderful to see the helping hands at the ranch, making our work possible as we head into winter over capacity. Your support is critical this time of year so MVHR can continue it's mission to help at-risk horses find their Journey of Hope and plan for the year ahead. With so many horses needing MVHR's help, it is very exciting to have adoptions finalize so we can bring in the next Journey of Hope. Wilma found her forever home with Rhonda and Kip stole the hearts of Tammy and Tim, both adoptions have now finalized. Lucy left for her adoption trial last week with a wonderful family on the front range, and recent intake George will also be heading out soon. We welcomed two handsome boys, Larry & Blaze, two 20 something geldings with eventing histories looking for an easier retirement life. They are as sweet as can be, and we look forward to learning what they might be up for in their next adventure. Three of the Four horses who spent the Summer and Fall at Summit Valley Horse Center (SVHC) have returned to the ranch; Hammer, Cricket & Boomer are in quarantine and will integrate back into the herd in a few weeks. Ernie remains with SVHC, as one of their volunteers fell in love with him and they will care for him this winter. Thank you SVHC for caring for this crew this Summer! In addition, two new intakes will come to the ranch in the next few days, and a couple of more will be made possible by nearby foster homes. We're doing everything we can to fit horses in before true winter gets here, and with your ongoing support we can stretch some at this critical time of year!
