MVHR's High School Rescue Club Launches Fundraiser

As part of their year-long participation in MVHR's High School Rescue Club, members are asked to create and implement a fundraising project that advocates for the horses through education and awareness. In the past, members have done this through creative, individual projects. However, this year's high schoolers wanted to work together as a team and combine their efforts to spread awareness and raise funds to help support MVHR.

Their first fundraising effort is launching today and will run through November 15th. HSRC members are selling custom-designed t-shirts sporting one of three eye-catching designs. Each design is available in your choice of pink, blue or black long-sleeved cotton t-shirts for only $20 ($22 for 2XL). Every t-shirt will have the MVHR logo on the back, and will be packaged with a list of facts about MVHR's mission. These one-of-a-kind t-shirts will be individually hand-crafted by our HSRC members and delivered during the first week of December.

Order your t-shirt today to show your support of MVHR! They also make wonderful gifts. You can place your order directly with a High School Rescue Club member or email nancy@mvhr.net. Design options shown above (left to right) are "Hopeful Hearts", "Mare & Foal" and "Running Home". Long-sleeved men's, women's and youth sizing is available from S-2XL. All proceeds go directly to the horses at MVHR.

Horse Updates: New Intakes Keep Coming

We welcomed 8 new intakes to the Rescue last month. Blue Moon, a handsome paint gelding, and Beamer, a beautiful grey mare with feet in terrible shape, arrived in early October. Beamer has started her road to recovery and is feeling much better already.

Hawk, Estrella, and Ruby 2 arrived next from the Delancey Street Foundation in New Mexico. Sadly, the foundation is winding down its livestock program due to COVID-19. MVHR is honored to be asked to help find these amazing horses a next chapter in life. Hawk is already on his way!

Two retired English horses named Buddy and Torec arrived towards the end of the October. If you're keeping count, this our third "Buddy"!

And last, but not least, Mr. Z joined us at the end of the month. You may have seen a touching post we shared on our Facebook page October 27th of Mr. Z and his late owner. We look forward to helping him, and all of our new charges, begin this next chapter of their lives.

Adoptions & Sponsorships!

New Delancy Street Foundation intake, Hawk, was only with us for a few weeks before heading off on his trial adoption. Congratulations to Hawk and his new family!

Phantom, one of our newer mares, now has a sponsor of her own. Sponsorship is a wonderful way to support a horse at MVHR as it waits to be adopted. If you would like to sponsor a horse of your own, please contact Shana at shana@mvhr.net

Matt Fuller and family

Volunteer Spotlight: Matt Fuller

Matt, his wife Ellen, and daughter Mattie found MVHR soon after relocating to Colorado from Nebraska. They fell in love “with the ideals, the people/horses and the location immediately” in the quest to combine their love of animals with giving back to the local community.

Buffy

Horse of The Month: Buffy

This handsome draft cross mare in her mid-teens has already won the hearts of many here at MVHR. In spite of extensive neglect, she is friendly and loves people. As she recovers at MVHR, we are hopeful to have her in training soon, where we can get to know her sweet, goofy personality even more!

If you'd like to be part of Buffy's recovery journey, please visit https://www.mountainvalleyhorserescue.com/donate.
