Hay Day

Thank You for Supporting Us This Hay Day!

Wow! What an amazing turn out on this past Saturday for the return of our Annual Hay Day event. Over 300 people came out to enjoy the beautiful fall day, meet the horses and donkeys, listen to live music and connect with our wonderful community. The support and generosity was incredible and we are so grateful to everyone who came!

We’d like to say a huge "THANK YOU" to our wonderful volunteers who helped make Hay Day so successful and seemless, our staff & board members for putting it all together, Matt Garth for the great music and Gallegos for providing the tents! And last, but not least, to all of our amazing horses who greeted everyone, hosted the photo booth & gave endless pony rides. Thank you to everyone who made this Hay Day one we will never forget!

Hay Day Online Auction - 2 Days Left to Bid!

If you didn't make it to Hay Day on Saturday, you can still support our 2nd Annual Hay Day Online Auction. Don't miss out on Broncos tickets, golf, resort stays, gift baskets, and much, much more! The Auction ends October 7th and all proceeds directly benefit the horses & donkeys at MVHR.

Crow

Crow

Equine Updates

Recent new intake, Penelope, is adopted! This 19-year-old beauty arrived in August and attracted the eye of a mule-lover almost immediately. You could say it was the perfect match! Are you looking for your perfect match? MVHR has some wonderful candidates available. Contact us at info@mvhr.net to learn more.

Young filly, Cora B's adoption by her sponsor is also official now that she has been weaned from Tango. Hard to believe she's already 6 months old!

MVHR's newest addition is Crow - a handsome, kind, blue roan gelding who is in recovery and already well-loved by our volunteers. Crow is a relatively young horse who has developed ringbone, a progressive osteoarthritis of the extreme lower limbs that can cause swelling and lameness. He will go to Roaring Fork Equine Medical center towards the end of October to undergo a procedure to try to improve his comfort level. Crow is generously sponsored by Laura Hansen. If you, too, would like to sponsor a horse on his or her recovery journey, please contact info@mvhr.net.

Steve, Lynn and Roman

Volunteer Spotlight: Lynn and Steve

If we had an award for the volunteers who travel the furthest, it would go to Lynn and Steve Davis every year. Each summer or fall for the past nine years, they’ve traveled to Colorado from New Hampshire to visit friends and family and to spend time helping out at MVHR. That’s a lot of miles and impressive dedication!

Lynn and Steve discovered MVHR in 2013 when they had exhausted their list of tourist attractions and decided to look for more local events to attend. Lucky for us, they read about an MVHR fundraiser in the Vail Daily and thought it sounded perfect.

Salsa

Horse of The Month: Salsa

When Salsa arrived (with Chip) in May, she was severely malnournished, resulting in muscle deterioration and bone issues. After a summer of proper feed, vet care, and a foster stay in lush green pastures where she could eat as much as she wanted, Salsa is back and has made a phenomenal recovery! Even her neurologic symptoms have all but resolved - thanks to good nutrition - and Joel is now starting to work with her under saddle. She is super sweet and friendly, and would love to find her forever home!

If you would like to adopt Salsa, or learn more about our other adoptable horses, please contact us at info@mvhr.net.
