HERD UPDATE:  OUR CORRALS ARE FULL!!

With the four new intakes that arrived in mid August, our corrals are full. We have a rapidly growing waitlist of people needing placement for their horses ASAP however, at this time, we do not have space for these horses in need. Please consider adopting a horse from MVHR and allow us to help others.

Abe, Al, Gray, Shady Lady, Angel and Freckles are all terrific handleable horses that are ready for a new home. We also have a few project horses - Bonita, Chip, Bear, Clifton and Wren that all have their own unique stories. And of course our special needs crew - Tamian, Beamer, Betty, Nova, Latigo, Torec, Boomer, Tango and Star. Each of them would make a pleasant corral companion or steady ground work horse.

HORSE OF THE MONTH

SHADY LADIE

Shady Ladie is a charming 20-something year old Arabian with plenty of spunk and get up and go. She is fun to ride, easy to handle and  has a sweet, gentle soul. Come out to the ranch and spend time with her...she’s ready to meet her new partner for adventures ahead!

VOLUNTEERS OF THE MONTH

SHOUT OUT to Alex Ebert & Mary Wolf that have volunteered and given their time to the horses for many years. This wonderful team ensures that the horses always have water, hay and clean corrals on Wednesdays and Fridays. Thank you Alex & Mary...we couldn't do it with your incredible devotion!!

From all of us at MVHR and most of all the horses ...THANK YOU!!

With your generous help and support, we raised $20,367 for the additional cost in hay for this year. In some cases, horses come to us with extreme starvation. With MVHR having a full herd at the ranch, these funds are more critical than ever to ensure we have enough hay for all of our beloved horses as grazing in summer pastures close down and we go into winter months. Donations towards hay are always needed and welcomed!!

SUMMER CAMPS WERE A HUGE SUCCESS

MVHR hosted 30 day camps this summer on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We welcomed 342 children to the ranch for fun filled days of being with and learning about the horses and becoming future equine advocates! Thanks to a generous grant from the Vail Board of Realtors, we were able to offer 80 scholarships this summer. Thank you to all who participated and supported MVHR in this incredible way. We look forward to welcoming you back next summer!

PROGRAM UPDATES

MINI HORSE HEROES

Our most popular program takes place two Saturdays a month. It's a fun way for kids ages 3-5 years and their parents/caregivers to spend time at the ranch. The little ones get introduced to the rescue horses in a playful way and we spend time with them exploring developmentally appropriate concepts related to preschool learning targets. Each session will include learning about horse care, grooming & leading and finishes with a pony ride.

SEPTEMBER DATES: 10th & 24th, 10am - 12pm
